Colour depth on LCD monitors
I was looking at the specifications of the LG Flatron L1710S and it states: Colour support 24-bit (16.7M colours). Does this mean that I will have problems with colours in my games, windows etc if they are run at 32-bit or more colour?

I havent noticed a difference between 16bit and 32bit colors yet.
I've tried it on c-strike and it pretty much looks the same and i've also tried it on the windows settings and i didnt notice a difference there either. |
The last 8 bits (25-32) are for alpha channels - things like transparency and blending effects. You will have no problems on your flat panel and everything should look just as good (except a bit of ghosting depending on what you're playing :)

I have the 1710S myself, and run every game (and windows) in 32-bit colour mode. No problems whatsoever.
They could be saying this because TFTs cannot show all colours, like CRTs can. That has to do with the technology behind it, and the levels of grey they can show; don't worry about it unless you want to do professional photo editing on it. |
Thank you dragonlich, i was beggining to think i would never find a decent lcd monitor!
