Outlook 2003 issue
When I get new email, legit email, it gets put in the Inbox, which then is presented in bold along with the number of new unread messages that are in it. This is fine and dandy, but when I get new junk mail, the junk mail folder also is presented in bold with the number of new messages. I find this highly distracting. I don't want the junk mail automatically erased, I just don't want the junk mail folder to be in bold, as I don't care how many messages there are in it. I only want to open it every few weeks to ensure there's nothing there that shouldn't be there and empty it then.
How do I go about fixing this to my liking? |
create a rule that all messages placed in the junk folder be marked as read. That should work though i can't say i've done it.

More fun Outlook questions! Yay!!
Basically, I'm originally from Finland and write emails to Finns a lot. There are two characters that appear in the Finnish languages that I cannot reproduce with my keyboard...apparently. The a with the dots on top, and the o with the dots on top. I get sick of having to get these characters from Char Map. Is there a way for me to add a button in Outlook where I could just click on the button and it would add the letter wherever the cursor was in the email I was writing? |
No, but you can map them to an ALT+X command, replacing X with an unused letter combination via the char map.
|
Or you can do it the correct way by going in Control Panel and installing the Finnish keyboard layout. This will put a language bar next to the taskbar. I use it for English/German. Switching from one to the other is painless and allows me to creat German specific lettering. To further that, you can install the Finnish language *.dll files from the MS Proofing Tools, and have Outlook (or the whole Office suite for that matter) use the Finnish language for spell checking as well.

...yeah, but if I install the keyboard layout, how do I get the characters "out of the keyboard" without having the correct corresponding keys? I've a US keyboard, one of these fuckin weird things that look split in the middle.
|
try the "visual keyboard" from microsoft.
it's a keyboard on the screen that has what will appear when you press the key. extremely useful in typing a language. |

If not, go here: Go here There are also several compaines that sell overlays. Just do a Google search for Finland Keyboard Overlays. |
You were right...it works! And it's easy! I can switch between English and Finnish effortlessly...thanks!
