How do you take a screen shot of a movie. Mostly asking in wmp if that matters, but if there's a general solution I'll take it. Print screen doesn't work.

Completely separate, I was wondering if there was a way to password protect my computer. I'm using ME and all I can get is that crappy windows login which doesn't help considering one can easily hit cancel. And no, XP won't run on my computer well.

ive never ventured into the wonderful world of ME, but you could always put a BIOS password on it.

I have no names off hand, but there are applications that let you capture screenshots in movies, im sure with some researching you can easily find something.

If you're playing off of DVD's you can use a simple program like WinDVD.

Try searching for FRAPS.
That utility helped me take some screenshots of games (which are also tough to take screens from)

As for the password thing: You could use a bios password as Junglistic said

Yeah, with ME, you dont have much of a choice but to use a BIOS password. Sorry.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is BIOS?

Oh and it's not really for dvds at all, just movie files in general.

BIOS is generally used to jump start the computer's priority functions. You usually see them when you turn your computer one and there's bunch of mumbo jumbo in white text on black background. It's usually accessed by hitting specific keystroke, I can't remember I think it was F1 or F4. By doing that, you'll get into the setup of BIOS where you can configure the computer's start up as well putting password on the start up process preventing outsiders from accessing your computer.

What kind of computer do you have? I've put XP on a 166 MHz Pentium 2 and it ran fine. You just have to turn the graphics crap down. Hell, I have the graphics off on my 1.6 GHz Athlon XP. It simply makes the PC run faster.

Windows XP uses transitions and shadows as well as other animation to make the opening and closing of various windows and programs look smooth. You can turn all this junk off under the display properties. After those options are off the computer will run MUCH faster.

yodapaul is right, XP uses a bunch of useless graphics that can make computers run way slower than they should. Notice how the older Windows look is the gray bars and all? Well, XP can look like that as well, and it speeds up your system. Go into the Control Panel and go to "Performance and Maintenance" or "System => Advanced" depending on which way you have your folders set up. After that, choose "Adjust Visual Effects" or "Performance Options." And Naturally, you can password protect all of your MS office files too. But that doesn't really answer your question of password protecting just ME without going into BIOS. Its a pity you'll have to patch together some semblence of security with ME. Microsoft really didn't provide any.

Then again, even with Windows XP, its unbelievably easy to hijack a password and login with any account with nothing more than a 3.5" Linux boot disk. No windows (or Linux) system is completely secure. At best, you can hold off the amateur users.

hehe... if u knew anything about programming, you could make your own login interface that cannot be closed or go around... i made one for win98 a few years back... not hard... it blocked ctrl alt delete, the ctrl key, alt key, win key etc... only A-Z worked.

OR: put a sceen saver password and put the screensaver in the startup so when someone logs in, the screensaver goes on.
its only good if u know the other person wont go in safe mode.

The XP thing sounds tempting, but aside from that I have to go into BIOs and make a password. Do I need to know something about programming to do that?
