Ripping music from a movie

Salutations Ladies and Gents,

Recently I got my hands on a Movie file (mpeg) that has some wonderful background music. But I after watching the movie and looking at the credits I noticed the movie doesn't list the names of the songs in the movie

So I'm wondering, does anyone know of a good program that will allow me to rip just the audio track off this file? And the same goes for WMV files too if anyone knows, I have a few of those I wouldn't mind just having the audio of.

Lastly, I have heard of VirtualDub but after some reading I'm under the impression that VirtualDub can 4-9 hours to rip the audio that's a little long in my book...

simple option, get cooledit or another audio recording program.

goto your volume properties, then recording properties, set it to record wave.

open up your movie, hit record in cooledit (or other), and let the movie play and cooledit will record whatever is coming out of your speakers (so dont do anything else that you dont want ot hear on the recording).

then you can go back and edit it out.

this takes only as long as it takes to play the movie, or it seems like there is a specific song you would like, so maybe only as long as it takes to play the song.

if u need any more info let me know

Here's what Leo had to say:

Extract audio
Gary from Holly, Mich., phoned for our T-Mobile Call of the Day asking how to convert audio from a DVD to MP3.

You just need a program to extract the MP3 audio from your MPEG-1 files. I recommend a free utility called Graphedit. It can be used to extract audio from DVDs as well as MPG files. For

information on how to use Graphedit visit Nicky Pages' Digital Solutions.

TMPGEnc (free) and River Past Audio Converter (shareware) may also work.

You might also try TotalRecorder.

An audio editing app, GoldWave, can load up video. Just save out the audio track.

I have used TotalRecorder which works great. I will have to give Leo's program a try.
