problem with my new hdd
i just bought a new sv8004h samsung 80gb hdd.
its connected as slave(mobo=DFI ad73pro,award bios), but the BIOS detects it as 30gb hdd... how can i fix it? |
i'm guessing that you have an older pc, thus an older bios.
the bios is not able to detect hd's greater than 30 gb it seems. there is a solution though. your hd should've come with a boot cd/floppy that contains software to allow your bios to recognize the full drive. maxtor has the maxblast software that does this. check out this link - > http://members.shaw.ca/rinocanada/hdutils.htm it has a link to a proggy that might be able to do it for samsung drives. |
I can dig up the Western Digital software for ya if ya need me to.

If samsung does not provide software to overcome this limitation you will need to purchase a seperate IDE controller card (relatively inexpensive) that will let your computer past the 32GB Barrier your experiencing.
