Hiding programs from Add/Remove Programs?
My work computer is running XP Home. Some co-workers recently cleaned out my computer of all "unnecessary" programs... i.e. AIM, Yahoo IM, MSN, K++, iTunes... and so on. Anyone know of a way that I can have these programs installed and leave little or no record of it? I was planning to hide the Program Files folders, but I would also need a way to hide their entries in the Add/Remove Programs page. I found a program called TweakAll which allows you to remove hidden programs from Add/Remove Programs, but couldn't figure out how to hide a program in the list. Any help would be appreciated.

Microsoft's TweakUI does that, doesn't it?
It did for windows 2000 if IIRC. |
yes i remember tweak ui doing that, but i cant seem to find that tab in xp. weird.
try moving the uninstall.isu file from the program files into a diff folder and it might help |
i just had a look at the group policy snap-in in mmc and i don't see an option for this in the add/remove programs section
edit- ok here's how you do it: in the registry, go to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall look for the programs you want to hide for each one, edit the DisplayName value, adding "Quiet" before the program name, i.e. iTunes ---> QuietiTunes they will be gone from the add/remove list usual registry warnings, etc ;-) |

ok well whatever, i tried the method i posted and it works so i guess you can do both
|
i tried yours too and it just listed it as before with quiet in front of it
|
ok well it works on mine but maybe my computer is weird! ;-)

oh you know what, you're probably right, sorry, i was doing it to AVG and didn't look at the whole list, it was probably down on the Q's!! heheh. apologies
