InstallShield problem, any suggestions?
 

When I try to install XIII (the game), I get the following error:

InstallShield (R) Setup Launcher has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I had installed the game successfully, then uninstalled it (that's another story). Now I can't re-install. I've removed any file or registry reference to the game. I've scanned Google for help. So far, no luck. Anyone here have a suggestion?

done all the obvious stuff like reboot?

go to installshields homepage and look for updates, they often have them on there.

I don't know if this helps any but -
a lot of times you can open those installer exe files in a compression program (notable WinRaR) and see the juicy files contained within

One other question - might prove to be relevant: Is this a legal copy of XIII or not?

A lot of the time, the stuff that breaks the copy protection in games causes a lot of bugs on some computer systems.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I had breifly checked the InstallShield site, but didn't see any solution, but maybe I'll try again. Oh, and it is a legal copy. :)

You could try and copy the whole CD's contents to a folder on your Desktop that's named exactly the CD's name, then run it from there and see what happens.

call up the publisher they have to help you :)

Problem solved, but I don't know why! I tried to install the game again last night and was expecting the error message, but to my surprise, no error. I'm not sure why it worked. Since my last attempt, I've installed some other software, so maybe that cleared out something left behind by InstallShield. Thanks for all the help! :D
