CD Hung in CD player... How to get out?
My girlfriend's CD player, a Kenwood KDC-5019, has a CD stuck in her CD player. The CD was playing fine in the receiver, then when she tried to eject it, the CD did not come out, nor will it continue playing now. My question is, does anyone know how to safely get the CD out of the player? I have found a manual online on how to get the player actually out of her dash on their website, but I see no purpose in actually taking the player out if the CD will still be in it...
Any advice appreciated Scott |

Come to find out there is a reset button on the bottom left corner of the car CD player. That tried to eject it, but it still didnt' come all the way out. But after that, using a pocket knife I got it close enough and just pulled it out with some pliers. We put another CD in and it played and ejected fine. Darn thing. Thanks for the reply though.

This just happened to me. Here is what I did.
Pushing the fuzzy slot-liner stuff aside, (heh, did I just say that?) I was able to see the CD. I used a really frickin sharp pocket knife to pierce the edge fo the CD and pulled it out. The CD was actually fine afterwards. The small hole I made was not in any of the data. (CD's write from center out, so there is no data near the edges) If you aren't a knife-freak like myself, an exacto knof would probably do the trick.

Wish I had known this a few years ago. Now I'll be prepared the next time.... or just get satellite radio!

It wouldn't happen to have been a burned cd would it?
I had a problem awhile back where my cd player would do the same thing if i put a burned CD-R in it that still had a session open. It would play to the end of the cd then freeze. Ended up pulling the fuse for a few seconds to reset the memory of the player.

I would try disconnecting the "memory 12v" wire...and then turning the stereo on, off...see if it pops out.
