everyone needs to be honest here.
None of us have a need for that. it's the definition of overkill and you wouldn't get any value out of it since were not running genetic modeling or radio Mhz analysis at full blast. It's like owning a Ferrari on a mile long island, simply overkill. i can't even think of a game that would need anywhere near that, can you *Edit* yes, flash memory has a lower life span and is far more suceptable to electromagnetic failure

arch, yes, none of us NEED that much speed and power. that is obviously beside the point. we want it, simple as that. cmon, tell me you wouldnt LOVE to have that machine, if it were given to you (or if you were mega rich and could afford it). hell, Im half tempted to take out a loan just to get one, lol.

SSD drives are better than hard drives for retention since they don't rely on magentic disks, they have no moving parts, temperature domains are much wider.
800,000 MTBF and 5,000,000 write/erase (per bit) and 10 years retention for a flash drive is typical. They'll be a ot more common in a few years, but at current prices around 1k per 1G you only see them on systems demanding really high performance. its quite a common system spec. around these parts, i was thinking of buying one of the 3.8 myself, but it seems go-l is actually a fake company or at least highly dodgy , so if you are going to buy one of these system from them, check it out in depth. the hardware *is*real but the company is the fakey one, most of us still think its a complex gag rather than a scam, but who knows. The specs on some of the system are a little, ahem, glorified. |

its using ram as teh hard drive this mean sthat you can not shut it off, with out lossing EVERYTHING. power outages woudl wipe your system clean .
further the phase change cooling is n ice but eats through your electric bill. real fast coupled with being on 24/7 its not for the casual user. sweet machein but not worth it. you can build the same system for less ($6000 or so)

Anyone else think it's funny that the processor in that PC (3.8 GHz Pentium 4 EE) has to have Vapor-Cooling at stock? I wonder how Intel is gonna get around that for consumer use.
That's a damn nice PC. Way overpriced (those monitors kill it), but at least a third of it is simply the processor. The 3.2 GHz EE is almost $800 with each consecutive EE going up in price exponentially. I think I read somewhere that it will debut for $3000 US? That's right, just the processor. This machine isn't overkill. With games like Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 coming out, it's gonna be a while before a true overkill is introduced. Overpriced and not worth the money, but surely not overkill. I'd take it for free though! -Lasereth

the ram is battery backed up if you switch it off it loses nothing, well only what you would lose if you turned off a machine with a regular hard drive, ie anything in the write cache
the reason the 3.8 has a vapour cooler is because its overclocked not stock, intel won't need to do the same since they'll design it to function correctly. also remember since the site is pretty much considered to be fake, the prices probably are too |

You guys might want to take a look there before you totally disregard there authenticity. These guys have a good rep for producing good articals and always giving the facts, so I trust them. Now the actual specs of the system, I dont know, but at least its showing that the monitor and the Case are totally real. |

the hardware is valid, but its made by other people. so far no ones been able to get liebermann to sell them one, they are about two blocks from one of the places i work, and i can't get in for a demo.
plus everything with them is still not ready to sell, and they won't answer direct questions, and the guy behind them uses an alias apparently. They only ever seem to show off the displays, which have been on sale elsewhere for ages. The case is just a http://vapochill.com/ pci expansion chassis http://www.magma.com/ laptops http://www.clevo.com.tw/ "grandview" monitors http://www.9xmedia.com/pages-Build_a...gurations.html heres the story here. http://plex.us/outbursts/liebermann.html |
