Mozilla and Opera mouse gestures.. Is it possible? - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

Hiya everyone.

I have been using Mozilla (Firebird specifically) on and off lately, and I am starting to like it.

One thing I truly miss from Opera though, is the mouse gestures.

Especially the "Back" one (hold right mouse and drag left).

Is there anyway this one gesture could be implemented into Mozilla, or is that not possible?

Initially I didn't like Firebird much, but after changing to text only toolbars and tabbed browsing, I noticed that there is almost the exact same amount of "visisble webpage space" across browsers.

The only thing I really miss is the mouse gestures...

Is there any way they could be implemented into Mozilla/Firebird?

You will need to cutomize it to your liking, especially if you like opera. But you 'should' have no problems with optimoz.

Installation:

Click on "Installation" at the top.
Click on "Install v(whatever the version number is)"
Left click is install now.
right click and save to install it later.

Also, do you have any other good Phoenix/Mozilla add-on sites?

Any good skin sites?

Thanks much for the help. I am new to Firebird, but it seems very nice. I like the mail client too...

Grondar, the place for Mozilla add-ons is http://www.mozdev.org - great site.

themes.mozdev.org <--- themes

The only other site one would ever need for Mozilla: www.deskmod.com <--- more themes, most of which are also on mozdev.

As far as all links opening in tabs, look around in Mozilla preferences. You can set it so that middle clicking a link opens it in a tab and just tdo that from then on

If you REALLY must have it be on the left-click, perhaps there's an add-on (I doubt it) but since it's open source, you can just learn to program and add it yourself!

(I know this isn't really a possibility to most people, but the fact it's there is part of what makes Mozilla great. It CAN do anything you want it to.)

What you need is the Tabbed Browsing Extensions. They provide you with a mich finer level of control over how tabs behave. Activate 'Single Window Mode' and all links that would open in new windows will instead open in new tabs.

Also the Firebird Help site is a great resource for skins and extensions for Firebird.

You can also use a scroll wheel click to open up windows in tabs.

/edit - That is by default....no need to get an extension unless you want to change the default left-click behavior

Again, thanks for the help everyone.

I will check out all of the above sites in a few minutes.

Before I forget, I was wondering something else regarding Mozilla/Firebird.

Is there a way to add the "Mail and Newsgroups" icon to my "QuickStart bar" on the taskbar?

Currently I can only access my email by opening Firebird first, as that is the only time the "Mails and News" icon shows up for me.

Thanks again, I am liking Mozilla more and more, and after reading up on and checking out those sites I think I will like it even more.

Yes, when you create the icon you need to tell it to run the command "mozilla --mail"

Obviously, if you're using Firebird, you don't have that feature and you need to get Thunderbird - but since you're asking I'm guess you're using regular Mozilla.
