.rar files

I've just downloaded a file that is in .rar format. The problem is that my winrar copy is expired. Is there any other way to use this file without spending $30 on a copy of winrar?

Hey thanks for the help.

I just don't think it was meant to be, the damn program won't download :(

WildZero 04-28-2003 08:59 PM

What would happen if your copy hadn't expired yet?

What time is it?

meanSpleen 04-28-2003 09:17 PM

Expired - He downloaded the trial version and the 30 day limit ran out.

WildZero 04-28-2003 09:24 PM

Can he turn back his system clock?

I'm a bit confused but, I've never had a version of WinRAR expire (all trial versions). Did they change their policy now?

Mister B 04-29-2003 10:44 AM

Thanks for the help guys.

I downloaded an archiver called Power Archiver 2002. It works pretty much like winrar, but it too has a timed trial period.

Secret Method- I didn't think they had a time limit on the trial version of Winrar either. I went back and looked at it and it says it has a 40-day trial period. I couldn't even re-download the program and get it to run.

I use a trial version of WinRar that says the trial has expired but I can still use the program just fine.

Edit- There is a big difference between a trial version and a "trail" version

The_Dude 04-29-2003 03:56 PM

i thought it was only winzip that didnt run out.

my old version of winrar did.

heyal256 04-29-2003 07:10 PM

Have you tried using winace? When the trial is over, it just bugs you but i don't think that it actually expires, but that may have changed in the newer version. http://www.winace.com

meanSpleen 04-29-2003 08:27 PM

eww, I've had problems with winace. For some reason, it always ran slow. I'd go for Ultimatezip - http://www.ultimatezip.com - over winace. *shudder*

SiN 04-30-2003 05:41 AM

mhm. i agree, winace sux cock.

dunno about a free and *legal* rar util tho..i just use WinRAR.
