DVD writers
 

Let's hear it. I'm about in need of another drive since my old CD-RW crapped out, and my 32X CD-drive is on it's last leg. Should I get another CD drive and another CDRW drive? Or go for the gusto and get the baddest DVD writer out there for a multipurpose role like the LG GSA-4040B?

If you're going to get a DVD burner, definitely get one that's both + and - R/RW. There's still a bit of a standard war going on, and sometimes one standard will work on a certain DVD player while another won't.

The DVD burner you suggested supports all the different standards....so it's a pretty safe bet. Personally i only buy CD and DVD drives made by plextor. They're more expensive though...so it's up to you.
