VPN and School Firewall
Ok, here's the setup.
My gf lives 6 hours away at a different college than me. I'm in an apartment with DSL and she's on the campus network. We've been trying to get netmeeting going between our two computers with no luck. I have to host due to the firewall on her side. But there is no video or sound being transfered in either direction. I was wondering if there's any way to perhaps tunnel through the firewall with VPN or something similar and do a straight connection between our two computers. Any ideas would be appreciated. |

yes, the size is pretty small for those windows.
i've tried netmeeting for this same reason, but somehow it doesnt work. my family connects to my pc, but i cant launch the webcam/audio. netmeeting has pretty much been discontinued for windows/msn messenger.

Do a search for MBONE Tools.
UNIX apps that were ported to PC. Has Video/Audio/Whiteboard features. I know it works for 95/98/NT but can't remember which version you have installed now.

The_Dude: I have the same problem with netmeeting and I assumed it was the firewall. Other computers can connect to mine just fine and both audio/video work. Don't know why though.
yotta: I thought about something like that, but I can't find any easy programs that I can have her setup with directions over the phone. krazykemist: She's got WinXP Pro, but will MBONE get through the firewall?

The firewall allows IM services, HTTP, pop3, etc. I'm not sure about all of the ports since I don't go there.
BTW yotta, wouldn't that require setting it up on the firewall itself?
