Wow, this is creepy.
In my pining for the TFP in the final *hours* before its ressurrection, I wandered over to folding to check out the teams and see if TFP had one. Sure enough, there she was and I proudly punched in my new team number! Unfortunately, I had only then just started a new workunit so I won't get on the list for some hours. |

I'll try and do it again.. but my mom always fucking uses my comp and shuts it down so no folding ever gets done...

Sorry, my CPU cycles have been claimed by Seti. How about a TFP Seti team? I hear forming a SETI team is like the 5 th Level of Geek Purgatory.

Hey, we just broke 1000 (we are 975 currently)out of over 32000, I think that means something (what I am not sure) but to go any further, we need more users!! Not that I really care, I just wanna be in the top 100, but It'll never happen. Although I am sitting in 9463 out of over 150000, so I am proud of something.....

d/l the app, then in team # put in 31697, and make sure you change your Name to reflect your board name.
The place to put that info will pop up the first time you use it. After that, left-click the icon in the systray to bring up the prog, and right-click anywhwere in the window to bring up the settings menu. (or you can just right-click the icon, but I like to watch the file working) |

Everytime I log in on my Mandrake laptop it just keeps asking for username/team number over and over again. haven't had time to figure it out. I'll be adding a second processor to the team this weekend regardless tho. Rank is 846, maybe you'll get that 100 Bangin.

I had four machines folding last week, but I ended up pulling the faster two (AthlonXP 1800 and 2000). This revealed that my 1800 has inadequate cooling, because my processor was approaching 90 degrees. On top of that, my office temperature was increasing significantly!
My two 300MHz boxes keep plodding along though. |

I'm in as well with my ever more obsolete Celeron 700 MHz
Team ranking up to 771 by the way.

Crap! I suggested this like back in October. All I got was a "Huh?".
Now (then, also) I'm folding for the #15-ish team and I've installed the client stealthily (with Firedaemon) on every PC I've built in the last six months (for that team - 10688, Team Sudhian). Let me know if you want higher performance tips... Like the "-advmethods" and "-forceasm" tags. The sweetest fruit is installing it on your PC's at work without anyone noticing - but be sure you're not gonna get into trouble. One guy on the 10688 team has a farm of about 30 Athlon XP2100's running in a rack system. Crazy. |

Not on any work PC's, mind you. Just systems I build and fix for free, and I use the graphical client, so they can shut it down. I tell them what it is, and so far, it appears everyone's still running it. I don't think any of my buddies would take me to court, but thanks for the concern
OK, performance tips... When you create a shortcut (always good to put it in your "Startup" folder) to the graphical client or the text-only console, right-click the icon and go to Properties. In the "Target" field, you should see something like: "C:\Program Files\Folding@Home\winFAH.exe" Add the following tags to the end as shown below - be sure to include the space before each hyphen. "C:\Program Files\Folding@Home\winFAH.exe" -advmethods -forceasm The " -advmethods" tag signals the server that you have an advanced system and it will make you eligible to receive the Gromacs core work units, which are usually worth a lot more and fold considerably faster than the default Tinker core work units. The boost is very noticable on Pentium4 systems. The " -forceasm" tag forces your system to use the SSE instruction set for much more efficient folding. I believe without this tag, sometimes the SSE can become disabled. To run an almost completely invisible client, check out a program called Firedaemon, which allows you to set up F@H (or any other program) as a service under Windows XP (no-go on 9x). |

I am a crazy folding fool.
Got it up and running on both my workstation and server box.

Hey, I have a question. On my Windows machine, I have both the screensaver installed and the stand-alone client.
When my screensaver activates, I should essentially be doing twice as much folding, right?

When I last checked, team ranking was 475. This is an amazing performance on the part of TFP members.
I've said it before, I'll say it again. Fold you bastards, fold!
