Overclocking 9500pro/ 3dmark '03
I am working on overclocking my Radeon 9500pro video card. I have already flashed the bios, and, using Rage3d tweak, I can get my speeds up to 339.75/306. I was just curious as to what kind of cooling I should invest in to raise these numbers.
As a side note, I am getting some awful scores in 3dmark 2003 in the CPU testing. Does anyone know why this happens? Thanks, Al

What CPU are you using? And 3d Mark 2003 slaughters nearly every CPU on the market right now. If you're talking about the CPU-only aspect, I know that those tests ran shitty on my Barton 2500+ at 2.2 GHz with a FX 5900 Ultra. Your overall score is what you should look at, not just the CPU tests. Hell, the Athlon 64 FX even got slaughtered in the CPU testing. It'll be a while before any CPU can keep up with it, sort of like the 8-light polygon testing in 3d Mark 2001. The first PC I ever saw that ran it alright was my FX 5900 Ultra/Barton 2.2 GHz. Even then, it only ran it at like 30 FPS max.
My friend overclocked his Radeon 9500 Pro to 9700 Pro status with ease using a GPU fan/heatsink combo. I forgot what it was called, but it started with a Z, and it was HUGE. I think it retailed for about $30.00. *EDIT* I think it was called "Zalman." Or the cooler's brand was Zalman, anyway. One or the other. Of course, I could just be wrong. -Lasereth

Has anyone heard or seen the Vantec Iceberq 4 in action? I am looking at this and the Tweakmonster RAMsinks for my video card.
The 'q' is not a typo. As far as my CPU, it is AMD 2700+. I realize that most are CPU's are going to eat it on the CPU test, but I have a problem with the fact that my friends 1700+ does better than mine. Could it be a mobo thing?

I've heard of the Vantec, and as far as I know, it's supposed to work well with the Radeons. As far as the CPU test is concerned, I would first compare your scores to those of systems comparable to yours and see if they are coming up about the same. If they aren't, then you might want to see if there's something amiss.
