email client for windows
What do you use, and what do you reccomend? I've been forced to leave my unix account where I used Pine, so I'd like something similar with regard to customization and keyboard commands..
Pine is available in a Windows version through the University of Washington.

I use The Bat! and am pretty satisfied with it. It is customizable, fast and hasn't crashed yet.
I've heard good things about Eudora too.
Currently trying the bat - looks good so far. Love the Perl style regexp :)
Thanks for the winpine link, but I think I'll go for a gui client this time.. |
When I got my PC, I found that finding a good mail client was damn near impossible (compared to Apple's Mail.app). I finally settled on Mozilla Thunderbird.
ms outlook 2003, works well.
Yes, I've been trying outlook too. I hooked it up to my exchange server. I dunno if it's because of the server or what, but it hangs the whole system for the 5-10 seconds it's checing mail.. I'm not impressed by the filter function either. And I'm a bit afraid of using it as 99% of all email viruses are targeted at Outlook.
You should probably do your best to avoid Outlook. Most worms that spread through email are designed to take advantage of Outlook's flaws...
Thanks people, I've been trying Eudora, The Bat, Outlook 2002, Pocomail and Thunderbird. :) I think I'll gor for the latter. Nice interface, and I really like the spam filter. Also I've been using Firebird for some time - probably not the same people, but I like the philosophy behind thse apps.
