I used to like to chat with various friends on yahoo chat, that is till the bots took over. Can anyone suggest a good free chat site? please include a link if you can. thanks!

Unfortunately IRC is only free for 30 days then u have to pay.

Technically of course! :hmm:

where'd did you get that info, or is it some joke i am missing ?

irc itself is free, the software you use to access it or the servers you visit may have payment rules, but theres plenty that don't

i use mIRC to chat on IRC, after 30 days they ask for you to pay a registration fee, but it isnt really required. I first paid the $20 after using it for about a year and a half. IRC is free, and there are plenty of networks and channels to chat on.

There are probably more irc clients than any other type of software in existance. IRC is old. Very old. And very free.

Nothing beats a unix curses client, in my opinion. I currently use irssi (http://irssi.org).

ok, then where to get this free irc software? when I look up irc i get the pay $20 after 30 days site

Hanabal 09-29-2003 10:17 PM

its an optional payment, if you bother to read the EULA.

also search google for irc client and you should get about ten million different options (an exageration obviosly, but you get the idea)

why dont you try instant messengers?

Most let you setup your own chat rooms which you can use to chat w/ your friends.

No, mIRC, a popular IRC client, is shareware with a 30 day trial. Access to IRC servers is free. Use a diffrent client if you don't want to pay for/crack mIRC. I sugguest X-Chat.
