Is kazaa dead?
All of the sudden, all of my downlosd speeds wont get over .02 kbs so i think their servers got blocked or something. is this happening to you guys too?:(
|
Not really. My internet is going really slow anyway due to a different issue.
|
nope, i get my usual speeds.
|
Sounds like your ISP capped your ass :)
|
nope, just changed to cable and its even faster than ever!!!

kazaa is still strong, but id reccomend going to bittorrent or dc etc as kazaa is full of bogus stuff apparently (never got any myself).
|
i love bittorrent but I never get downloads over 130kb/s off it, my cap is like 360 :( most of the time its around 30-50. . bad uploaders i guess.
|
winmx isn't too bad.

kazaa isnt dead its just in critical condition. few people use it; scared of billion dollar lawsuites;
if your gonna get sued, i say go out in a bang gigs upon gigs of mp3s |
just looked at Ares P2P just for kicks tonight and realised the obvious - I am far too picky on audio quality to even touch a CBR MP3. I did not even look at files below 192kbps,and would really prefer to see MP3 (if it has to be that format) files encoded with LAME 3.90.3 using at least --alt preset standard .
would much rather grab music from a free legal source in a lossless format (link)- shorten is easy enough to transcode to flac or something more useful. Obviously those file sizes are not so friendly to dialup users or people low on HD space though. |
i know that some .edu's are blocking kazaa ports etc so that the speeds are just horrible to prevent people form using the services, also i have never used bit torrent but i know someone who does/has and they got a letter from the RIAA (assholes who run the industry and wanna kill everything) in essence busting them for filesharing so just because you think something is safe does not mean it is, and i am sure firewall logs can get you an ip addy of the connections made to/from your box using a bit torrent type of fileserver

Remember to leave the "tracker" open as long as you can after downloading the file, so that others can upload it from you. It is a shared service, and the more you upload, the faster your downloads will be (tricky algorhythm). People who are in the process of downloading are called "leechers", but this is NOT an insult. Leechers also upload the portions that they already have. The filespace on your HD will be "reserved" for the entire size of the file at the beginning of the download. |
Sorry i forgot to check this yeah i think my IP got tagged cause i was on too much. I just stayed off it for a few days and now it works fine
|
i dont wanna turn this into a BT thread but what are some of the advantages of using this over a kazaa or other p2p or is it just the new hot thing out right now to use?
|
well BitTorrent is much more reliable as in, the credibility of the files. Most of the time if the file says one thing, it is that thing. No fake things, etc. Also, the RIAA is not ON to bittorrent yet so.. that's an advantage right there.
you can't just "use" BT though, like someone else said you need to find sites that have links to .torrent files with seeds etc. |
