arrrg, microsoft and their determination to end piracy of their os's has now prevented me from downloading the necessary patches and service packs necessary to close back door RPC problem. they do this by checking your registration key (i assume) and told me i have an invalid copy or something like that. does anyone know a way to still get the updates? thanks ....

Whenever I have a failed update with the automatic windows update I download the patches with Mozilla and then install them manually. I don't know if it will work for you since it sounds like your copy isn't legit.

well if you want it to work i would buy a copy of the OS, xp i'm guessing..... you get what you pay for...

There is a reg key and a workaround for this (it affects SOME corporate licenses), but you'll have to search for it.

We've had to do it for a number of legit installs at work. NO, I won't publish it, but if you find it on your own it's not my problem.
