Video playback problem - truncated files

This is kind of technical so I understand if no one can answer this, but I've had luck here before with my oddball questions.
I'm trying to view a few DivX files that will load in the DivX Player 2.x, but not in anything else. Using GSpot I've determined that the files are truncated by 2-10k, but they're otherwise valid files.
I'm trying to figure out a way to fix this, or at least get other players to ignore it.
Failing that, perhaps there is another player someone knows of that will read a truncated file, and also supports subtitles. The whole problem is that I want to watch movies that have subtitles, but that isn't supportd by DivX player.
