Sync Out of Range
Alright, this is a new one to me.
I haven't changed ANY of my settings for a while now, and a game I play a lot, now won't play. Well it RUNS, but the monitor shows up little floating box that reads "Sync. Out of Range" I don't get this with some of my other games, I just don't get it. 2400 AMD XP 512 MB RAM GFX 5900 Monitor refresh is 60 Hz (for some reason I can't change it to anything else) 1152 x 864 resolution. Again, I haven't changed these specs for a while, so why now? and what exactly does that floating box mean?

Looks like whatever game you are using is forceing a refresh rate beyond what your monitor can handle for that particular resolution -or- your monitor can't display that resolution. First of all install detonator 45.23 drivers. Then change the resolution that game runs on to something more standard like 1280x1024 and see if the problem goes away. If it does then you are just back to the problem of having 60hz refresh rate on all direct 3d and opengl games. Now download one of the many utilities to fix the refresh rate problem. I prefer Refresh Force:
http://www.nvplanet.com/modules.php?...op=MostPopular This will probe your monitor and video card and set the refresh rate as high as possible for all possible resolutions...now keep in mind that it's not perfect. If run a particular game and you keep getting the "out of scan range" error, run refresh force again and manually lower the refesh rate the whatever resultion you are having problems with. /bisc Last edited by gorillabiscuit; 08-26-2003 at 09:40 PM.. |

oh I forgot to mention.. I played this game WITHOUT a problem this weekend. So whatever it may be forcing was prefectly fine last weekend.. Whatever my monitor can handle.. handled it just fine last weekend.
That kinda complicates things a little, doesn't it?

So.. is there any way to fix it?
I noticed I can get it to go to 75 Hz.. maybe it could all along and I accidentally hit one a bit higher. Either way its now running at 75, but I still can get the game to run. Am I shit outta luck and gotta find another monitor? Or is there something I can do?
