Win XP problem - HELP
I was working on my sons computer, he is home from college and the computer was in the box all summer.
I was doing critical updates with Microsoft, I had installed them and shut down the computer as it said to restart. When it came up the screen showed various startup methods, I tried normal and last known good configuration and safe mode. None have worked, WIN XP screen just freezes. Did I get a virus, blow out the hard drive, any help would be appreciated as my son is bull shit. |

If you can't get the system to boot even using Safe Mode, I would try booting off the XP CD. You can then choose to Repair an Existing Windows Installation. Then you have the choice of doing either the Recovery Console, or the Automated System Recovery. In this case I would try the ASR.
Good luck. |

Thanks for the replies. Let the computer rest over night, finally got it on, then got it to stay on and deleted everything I had downloaded yesterday. Seems to working ok, but it has shut down a couple of times for no apparent reason.
