Video Compression
ok, some friends and i have this series we are working on, and uploading so people can download, but after the files are exported from preimier they are like a gig for 15 minutes, is there any way to compress the video so that the actual video file is a smaller size? (im not talking about zipping or anyhting) thanks!

you can use codec's to compress them, but the person viewing the video would need to have those codec's installed.
one of the most popular codecs is divx and you can find more info here http://www.divxnetworks.com/

Divx is good, but damned hard to get working right.
First of all what is your video source, and how is it edited. Move on from there to choosing a codec. Divx is good for low motion high bandwidth stuff, but unless you get really handy at encoding it just so... it can look like TOTAL shite... Xvid is a great alternative... it's just got some encoding and performance issues. But it looks fantastic, try encoding with both. In the end you will probably want to try out a few formats, some to look at are Divx5, Divx3 (High bandwidth works best with div3), Xvid (always fantastic looking CPU intensive, sometimes buggy), and last and probably the best choice IMO... Windows Media 9. Windows Media is a fantastic format when it's done from a quality source. Apples mpeg-4 codec is worth looking at, but it doesn't really ever peform well in low bandwidth conditions.

www.divx-digest.com will have all the answers you need, I use FlaskMPEG 0.7 with the Xvid codec doing a dual pass and OGG for my audio however most commonly mp3 is used cause most people will have that codec.
