I just got a linksys router BEFSR41 and I want to know how to open ports so I can use filesharing programs like Bit Torrent. Any ideas?

you gotta set up a static ip for your computer thats not in the range of the router
ie. router=192.168.1.1 range = 192.168.1.100-254 computer = 192.168.1.20 subnet = 255.255.255.0 gateway = 192.168.1.1 (router address) dns domain = whatever dns host = whatever dnsservers = go into the linksys router and look at the status page and the dns settings, usually the first two are the only ones needed after that, go into the advanced tab and then the forwarding tab and enter in the static address you just set up for your computer bit torrent uses ports 6881-6889 so enter these numbers and cleck the tcp and enable boxes, fill in an app name(bits or something) and click apply. This should set up the right ports for bittorrents on your computer
