Simple Windows Question
So I have an extra instance of win2k in my boot screen, i.e., my screen lists two Windows 2000 instances, though it doesn't matter which one I "choose." How can I prune out the extra one and thus have my computer just boot win2k automatically without having to choose one or wait the 30 seconds? I noticed BoCo mentioned a BootXP to edit the boot screen in another thread is there something similar for 2k?

I believe the other one is basically the win2k version of safe-mode. I don't know where, because I haven't played with it, but I bet somewhere in the Control Panel, there is a place where you can choose how long it'll pause. I just dunno if you want to get rid of that other option

you need to edit your boot.ini file and remove the extra OS reference. if you don't want to do it manually there is a way to do it through the GUI. i don't know 2k very well, but in xp it is:
right click my computer --> properties --> advanced tab --> startup and recovery 'settings' button --> system startup 'edit' button |
well, actuall you don't have to hit the edit button unless you want to manually edit the file - just use the pull down menu and check boxes in the system startup section

Edit the MBR in note pad

Thanks, guys. :)
