CPU temp?!
I recently got a new computer (got all the parts off newegg.com and put it together) and I was curious what a good temp is for the cpu.. this was the first computer I've put together and its running around 115-127 deg F right now.
I'm kind of dissapointed with this because Its an althon 3000+ XP and its only running at 2158 mhz (166 x 13) right now and I think it should be at 2600 (200 x 13) but I'm afraid of putting any higher at the moment without getting extra cooling. Would it be wise to go ahead and put it up to 2600? or would that be running too hot? Dustin |
your temp is on track...athalon's typically run in the 40-50 celsius range...go here for a temp converter: http://biphome.spray.se/nebrer/temp.htm
also, amd makes 2 athalon xp 3000+...one with a 333 fsb and one with a 400 fsb...either way, the frequency you're seeing is right where it should be...around 2.1 ghZ http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...alue=4159,4888 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...alue=4159,4573 |
Thanks mikec.. I guess I just missed that 400fsb 3000+.. /shrug hehe

I have my Barton 2500+ 333 FSB running at 50 celsius idle. Of course, I also have it overclocked from 1.8 GHz to 2.2 GHz using a CPU HSF, so I guess I deserve it. It goes up to like 55-56 celsius when I play games. Oh well!

I just built a system for a friend with an MSI mobo and an AMD XP2400+ running at 2GHz and the damn thing runs rock solid at 28°C (82.4°F) with a Vantec Aeroflow heatsink on it. My own system runs 14°C hotter than that with the same CPU!

Yeah, same thing happens to me a lot too. My friend has the same CPU HSF as me and his runs a good bit hotter than mine, not overclocked. It has a lot to do with the temperature inside the room that the PC is in as well as the case temperature. I need some case fans desperately; I have 0 in mine right now. Once I go back to college I think I may have to clock down some. I'm afraid that my dorm room will be way hotter than my house, causing the CPU to run much hotter than normal. That, or buy a cheap desk fan to run constantly on the motherboard with the side of my case off. :( I hate un-air-conditioned dorms!

Holy Crap, mine is 5000000000000 Degrees.....Phew, it's hot in here...................
|
mine runs between 48-50 full load, if i push the o/c i can push it to 60 w/o seeing smoke and loss of stabiltiy

How can you tell what temp your processor is running at?
|
easy answer, when booting go to bios and its in there somewhere,
or install software soch as motherboard monitor cant remember the address sorry |
mines bad, its usually about 55 idle and goes to 59 doing anything, i once got it to 66 but i thought that was pushing it
But seeing as AMDs are rated to 95, how hot can you go till you cause damage, I heard the first thing that goes is your system bus |
