Again with the Windows Update problems...
I'm running WinXP Pro, a legit copy, even :).
For the past two weeks, it has listed one "critical update"; Nvidia Drivers...old drivers. This update used to be offered to me under the Drivers section, and I had selected to ignore it because I was already running a later release, the WHQL certified 43.05 version, nonetheless. So, is there any way to "reset" Windows Update? It didn't even offer me the MSBlaster fix, I wound up downloading that and installing it myself, manually. Surely there's been releases in the past two weeks...it's actually been a month since I ran the update, just in the past two weeks that I've been actively looking because I thought something was up. Was there anything you've done (patches applied, software installed) right before you noticed this happening?
Worst case, you could always go to Add/Remove Programs and roll back all of the HotFixes and redownload them - see if anything along the line fixes the issue. Failing that, reapply SP1 and go from there, see if that helps. Absolute worst case - something got seriously hosed, reinstall. |
That's the weird thing, though...there's absolutely no other problems with the machine...I think it's something whacky on the other end.

Well, WindowsUpdate has been down (at least from work) nonstop today, so I can't go to check.
The "Trouble Shooter" section of the Windows Update site normally has some pretty good solutions. Have you checked in there to see if there's anything that applies? |
