Norton Internet Security and Windows Messenger, Anyone else?
Hey guys.
I just installed Norton Internet Security 2003 on XP and have noticed an odd thing happening with Windows Messenger. Before NIS, I had it to where I could close Windows Messenger (right click in tray, choose exit) even when Internet Explorer was open. After having installed NIS, it now tells me that I can not close it because other applications are using it. Even after closing all my other apps, I still am unable to Exit Windows Messenger. Does anyone else have a similar experience to this? (In relation to NIS, or other) Did you find a fix for it? Thanks a lot. |

Same problem here and I've got no idea of how to resolve it.
Pisses me off to when Messenger continually tries to reach the internet after you've booted your machine. Once it's found the internet it's happy and goes quiet.

yes, i had the exact same problem, but it's not norton internet security. it's norton anti virus.
open up the options for norton anti virus and click on the 'instant messenger' tab. (on the left side). now take the check off of msn instant messenger and stop the integration. it also makes windows messenger load up on startup and you dont even know it (there is no icon)
