Password Protection for specific areas within XP?
I've got XP Home and I'm trying to figure out a solution to put passwords on certain folders within my already passworded account.
Compressed Zip Folders can't really do it for me.. I want to password "My Documents" within my user's profile so that it can not even be opened unless a password is entered. Is there an application that can do this for me? I really want to have that extra security that someone would have to figure out yet another password to get into my documents. Thanks. |

Got it on Google.
Just remove the tick from the Use simple File sharing, from Folder options. Then windows goes back to using the windows 2000 file sharing, and you can control who has access to your folders. But they will need to know either a local account user name and password or have you create an account for them on your computer. |

Anyways, I'm mostly unfamiliar with XP Home, but I'll try to give my advice: Disable Simple File Sharing (someone above posted instructions on how to do so). Go to the folder you want (if it's My Documents, it should be C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents and access the folder properties for that. Go to the security tab and make sure that only your user (and SYSTEM) have access. That should stop everyone else from being able to look at your porn/etc.
