File viewer for Win
Hi all,
I have a bunch of files (file fragments) from HD recovery that I have to go through to figure out what is in each file and if I can delete it. Is there any usable tool that can view any file thrown at it and even determine what kind of a file it is. Back in the dos/win days there were couple of utilities like this but I have lost track of them. Yours Zweiblumen

I have found a utility called TrID that helps. It reads "magic number" from the file and tries to tell what kind of file it is. It can also add the most likely extension to the file and more.
It's a command line utility available both for win and linux. Authors webpage is Marco Pontello's Home - Software - TrID. This is not a viewer but it can help with filtering out the known garbage. ZB
