OCZ Ram: Quality or not?
Hey there,
Been looking to buy some RAM on Ebay (specifically PC3200 with lowest timings possible). I've run across several auctions selling the brand 'OCZ' which I've never heard of, and labelling them "=Corsair" while being less in price. Anyone know if they're quality or not? Thanks. |
i don't know about their latest products, but I remember a huge controversy a year or two ago. apparently they pushed low quality chips onto the market, toting them as highly overclockable ram, and refused to provide support for them when their customers inevitably complained.
Even if their current products are top of the line, I wouldn't patronize this company. |
Crucial usually has reasonable prices and they make good quality RAM.

I have used Corsair, OCZ, and Crucial.
All performed top notch and without hitch, all were very stable. I have not OC'd the Corsair because its in my little bro's computer, but the OCZ is in my personal system and I have had zero issues with it. So I'd say go for it. Oh, and my OCZ is PC3200, 512mb, basic series. |
i have the OCZ PC3200 Performance Series 512 mb, and overclocked the system to 200fsb with "agressive memory timings" and i am stable as ever. ive seen no problems at all.

matter of opinion...I have 2 gigs of OCZ pc2700 on my 3.06 and they run at 2.2.2.5.1 on the system, and hasn't hiccuped since I got them early march.
|
I've heard about half and half on the OCZ.. I'll stick with my Corsair :)

only thing in both my boxes is crucial
cant speak on the O |
I always hear bad things about OCZ ( http://www.lostcircuits.com/memory/ocz3700/4.shtml ) I have corsair in my system (pc2700 low timings) and havent had a problem with it. had some samsung before this and that was great too, accept for a little AS3 mishap...
