WASTE transfer speeds
I'm not sure of anyone here tried nullsoft's WASTE. I set it up so I could share files with my friend. We're both on cable connections and we can only get as much as 10 kb/s per file, which is strange, considering I can download five files at a time from him, each at this speed. Is there a way to get over this?

no you are locked.
Cable modems tend to have a speed of 1500/128 Megabits a second. Which averages about 190/16 kilobytes a second. Your download (the 1500) is capped. Which means your download is regulated to that speed, though you could download faster (Thus is you download multiple files your download speed shouldn't go drastically down). Your upload is limited. Always at 10/16...and if you try to upload anything else...it sucks.

this is a WILD guess.
in kazaa, you're downloading from multiple people. so, that 10kb/sec only applies to one person. if u download the file at max speed from 5 people, u get 50kbps
