Inherent Traits
 

So, my friend just returned his Sony monitor for the third time. Why? He thinks the two lines caused by the Trinitron Shadowmask are defects in the monitor. I mean, if the two little lines drive hime nuts, why doesn't he just buy a new monitor without the trinitron shadowmask? Because 'Sony is the best'. Why are they one of the best? Because of their Trinitron tube, with the two little wires that very slightly show up on the display. This circle of insanity will never end.

He has issues that will not be solved by returning the sony. The type of mask used, and it's not unique to sony, that will give those two lines.

I can't feel any sympathy for him. I am annoyed by people that don't learn.

i have a viewsonic pf790. it has the same 2 lines, they were annoying at first, now i don't even notice them. i love the monitor, and decided it was worth the annoyance to keep it. it was definitely the right decision.

Sony is gay. I've been burnt by them 3 times by their short-lifetime personal audio equipment.

My Discman's volume knob intermittently stops working. I swapped it for another and get the same problem. Next time I'll take a TEAC so the misery is less expensive.

Well what do ya know! I have two little lines on my ViewSonic G90f.....whoopdidoo. Tell him to get a life ;) - or get a non-flat monitor.

can't even notice the lines unless you're looking really hard.. gotta love people who make their own lives harder

what lines? are they like actual lines on your monitors or is it code for something else? where do these lines show up?

I see those damn two lines on other monitors all the time, it drives me nuts! Id return it too. Except he's an idiot if he thinks its a defect (or whomever let him return that for that reason). Those two lines are almost as annoying as running my monitor at 60Hz.

I guess some people are more perceptive than others... (or were just crazy)

My 21 inch Viewsonic G220fb does NOT have the two lines, at least not that I can see. I'm pretty sure it's a trinitron. As to those lines, supposewdly all trinitorns have them. They support the mask.

hmm...I just actually looked (I posted this last post from a different computer) and I don't have lines. Whatever - my parent's computer at home has them. Either way, it's not a defect.
