DC++ problem.
Hi all. I started using DC++ tonight, after reading about it on the threads. I set up my user info, but I can't connect to anything. Please, somebody who is using the thang, help me out here. Thanks in advance

If you're behind a firewall you might have to set your ip address in the DC ++ configuration menu, as well as open some ports. Any other info about the setup?

Are you connecting to the intenet through a router or directly through a modem?
|
I have DSL. But I also use a Microsoft wireless router to share the DSL connection with another computer. Kazaa Lite runs fine, UT 2003 runs fine online. Age of Kings, however, has stopped working online since I got the wireless router. The router also acts as a hardware firewall.

The router is your problem.
Find out what port is required for DC to connect, then go into your router configuration and manually open that port. Same for the game that doesn't work. If you don't know what port is required, google for some network monitoring software with port monitoring. Then fire up the program and watch for it to attempt a connection on the port. |
You have to get into your router and open up port 412 then go into dc++ and get into settings. once you are there do the active connection then give it your EXTERNAL IP ADDRESS (not 192.168.1.100) and put in port 412.

The other solution for DC++ is to set yourself up for passive mode. However if the person you are trying to connect to is also passive then you will not be able to connect.
