Linux switcheroo
I recently installed Mandrake with KDE - I can't believe it's not Windows.
What I needs to know is that do I need to worry about spyware and more importantly how can I p2p fileshare with Linux? |
no on the spyware, just make sure that you're running mandrake in one of it's more 'secure' modes to hold the hackers at bay.
for p2p, see gnutella |
Secure modes? How do I go about doing that?
|
start here
I'm not a mandrake user, so for the specifics on mandrake security levels, consult mandrakes documentation. also check: mandrake user and maybe: http://www.mandrakeuser.org/docs/secure/smsec.html the last one looks pretty complex, but again IANAMU, so the docs are MUCH better than I could be. |
Thanks for all your help.

I highly recommend subscribing to the mandrake-newbie mailing list. It helped me out a lot when I was on Mandrake. (Of course, create a filter for your e-mail to sort those mailings into a different folder because there are a lot)
As far as p2p, I like qtella a bit. You can also get kazaalite running under WINE although I'm not sure how as I've yet to do it. If you use the eDonkey protocol at all there is also lmule.sf.net |
www.limewire.com for p2p
|
I reccomend edonkey or overnet, but I'm mostly into anime. I hear KaZZa Lite can be made to work in wine.
