Problems with internet access / webpages

Well this was driving me crazy was going to format my drive. I just could not access webpages sometimes, and connections were very slow. So anyway I found out that after the new update from AVG things go wrong if you have Zonealarm installed, so you need to get rid of one of these programmes.

Try Avast instead of AVG

avast! Free Antivirus - Download Software for Virus Protection

I find avast to have too many false positives for my torrent liking not to mention that no virus protection has saved me from the payloads that come from activeX and flash.

I havent had any probs with avast but I did have the same software conflict between ZA & AVG so I switched to avast which did solve the prob.

you should really upgrade to Microsoft Security Essentials for the best security(free softwares). seriously, I actually tried to infect my pc and it stopped it. So It does work. :)

I also like MS Security Essentials. I've been using it for three months now. It's pretty much seamless. It updates automatically, of course, but it doesn't tell me every time it does something, which I like.

I agree. I've replaced the free McAfee security software from Comcast with MS Security Essentials. Its less intrusive, does not degrade performance and it caught a few files in its initial scan that McAfee didn't.

It's a shame MS can't make Security Essentials a standard part of Windows. But they can't. All the A/V software companies would freak. Also, I've always wondered if Symantic, McAfee, AVG, etc, actually pay people to create viruses/malware to help sell their crap. I can't see how MS would have anything to gain by doing that so I trust them more.
