What to do with unlimited texting?
Hey all, for Christmas I was given the gift of unlimited texting. I've already set up some twitter stuff, will probably do some Facebook Mobile later.
Does anyone have any good suggestions? I'm pretty slick so feel free to throw whatever you've got at me. |

if you don't have a data plan with that, I suggest using it to google for destinations.
number: GOOGLE (466453) what to type: city, state(province), what you are looking for. It will send you back a few text with the yellow page info of what you searched.

Text away. I know I know, there are some people in this forum who think proper protocol is to actually call people up and talk to them. I used to be of that camp until I got unlimited text. Then I learned some times it's not necessary to call up people. For me, it's easier to text someone to ask for quick information than to call and have a 30 seconds conversation. It's also easier to send jokes or random bullshit than to call someone and tell them about it then hang up.
MexicanOnABike's suggestion is good too. My friend, who also has unlimited text, uses Google's service religiously--for everything.

I got the same with a new phone, requiring an unlimited everything plan, and it's an interesting adjustment. At first I said it was for girls, but must now admit there are practical, efficient uses as well. And, yes, I knew it was a bad joke, the messages I've gotten are not at all like the stereotypes of high-schoolers TXTING on TV ads.
I placed an order on Amazon the other day and there's an option to be notified via SMS when the package leaves for delivery. Could be quite useful if a package requires signing and you really want it soon.. How's the Facebook mobile stuff? I'm curious about that, but haven't looked into it yet. |
