Electronics, computers, gadgets, software! It's Technoporn! This week I signed up for a securities course, and so I ordered this baby: It's a Sharp EL-738 business/finance calculator. http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u...arp-EL-738.jpg I'll be using it to calculate ratios and shit. It's going to be fucking awesome! :hyper: It's equipped to handle:
I have to wait up to 5 business days before it arrives with my package. I'm forming an unhealthy obsession over it. Okay, whaddya got? |
Does software count?
|
Oh hells yeah! :hyper:
(Added to the list.) |
well even though version 9 was working just fine..
I picked up 3dsMax 2010, Maya 2010, MotionBuilder 2010, Mudbox 2010 Softimage 2010 and Zbrush :D Going to upgrade to FCP v3 this week (even though FCP sucks). hmm I know I picked up something else.. can't remember what it was though. |
Mmm...67 terabyte server
http://blog.backblaze.com/wp-content...components.jpg Mmm...petabyte in a rack http://blog.backblaze.com/wp-content...er-servers.jpg edit: I also have had a huge boner for Samsung's LED TV's since I saw them at CES. I think when my DLP bulb finally bites it I'll be upgrading. http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/t...ype=prd_detail On the topic of something I'm actually GETTING, I just preordered a CinemaTube: http://pulse2.com/wp-content/uploads...cinematube.jpg http://www.hdtvinfo.eu/pics/brite-View_CinemaTube.jpg The AppleTV with Boxee solution is great...right up until you start trying to play HD content, at which point it takes a big 3fps frame-skipping dump. For $99, I figured even if I just use this to play HD content, I can't go wrong! http://www.brite-view.com/cinematube.php |
I love my PS3.
The feature I use the most (more than actual gaming) is using it as a media server to stream video and music from my computer on my TV and surround sound. Love it. |
IronKey - The World's Most Bitchin' Hardware Encrypted Flash Drive
https://www.ironkey.com/images/device/product-s200.png
IronKey - The World's Most Secure Flash Drive. AES-256 encrypted, epoxy-filled, waterproof, private-browsing, anti-brute-force-attack equipped, tamper-proof, US-military-approved flash drive. Just thinking about it makes my girlie parts tingle. I want one for the same reason I always carry a condom: best to have and not need, worst to need and not have. |
this is hot. |
I just bought a Supermicro CSE 942-600B on craigslist for $25 :-D
http://imgur.com/f68Cz.jpg Yay for 10 bays of hot swapping goodness! I already transplanted my windows home server into it, now I just need to buy 6 more 1.5TB drives... |

I always make cardboard ductwork to improve flow. Just cardboard instead of plexi because no one is going to see the shit but me, generally  |
Got a new compy coming in a few hours..
Intel i7 870 cpu 4gigs DDR3 Nvidia QuadroFX5600 video card those are the big hitters of the new machine.. the video card is drooooool... I think it's got a SSD in it for the main drive also.. I'm not sure.. I just told them what processor and video card I wanted.. they mentioned getting a SSD to run the OS and everything else will go either on the media servers or the native 5TB's I'm running. just hoping the guy who's putting it together doesn't fuck it all up. |
My 4U Supermicro server now has a dwelling befitting a machine of its heritage, in my master bedroom closet, as well as dual-quad-core Dell 2U friend:
http://imgur.com/s2V8w.jpg Fun fact: That rack is a , a product I single-handedly designed, modeled, and engineered when I worked there. Since I designed it, they graciously gave me a free one left over from a tradeshow :) |
^ Nice Rack!
Seriously though that about the size I've been in search of for a long time now. Figures I'd find it when I'm broke and my job is on less then sure footing. |
The ultimate in Nerd Porn -- The Cisco CRS-3.
http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/members.../1970-crs3.jpg Capable of up to 322 Tbps of throughput. That's about three and a half times the capacity of the older CRS-1, or equivalent to 4.5 million of the top tier 50/20 FiOS connections. Yours for the low low price of only $90 000.* *Chassis only -- line cards are available for an additional fee. |
Oh hey speaking of, I managed to nab a Cisco ONS 15540 ESPx, plus some other older equipment. I'm dismantling a 7000 router right now. I think I'm gonna make a homebrew blade server out of it :)
