Computer freezes and crashes when video is played

Well I have been having shit luck with this fucking computer. The things a beut, but my HD with windows (XP) on it failed.

So I replaced the harddrive, put XP back on it, and have been having nothing but problems. I have all the latest drivers so don't think thats it.

Anyways here is the problem: whenever I play video of any sort at all, it could be streamed from the net or a video on my HD, the computer will freeze up (it sounds like a CD skipping) and then reset itself. Its totally random as to when it will crash but it does it fairly often. I have not tried playing a video game yet but I imagine it will do the same.

Mobo: eVGA nforce 780i
Graphics: eVGA GTX 285
Processor: Q9450 2.66gzh OCed to 3.2 (could it be this? Never caused problems before)
PSU: Antec (I think its a True Power) 650W

Anyways... got any ideas?

If it does it in games as well, the most likely culprit is the video card.

Have you messed with the cooling on the graphics card at all? If you replaced the heatsink, check to make sure the new one is seated properly. Overheating can cause lots of wonky things, including this.

Its not cooling thats the issue. I have stock heatsink on my graphics card + about 6 ram sinks that are stuck to the metal bits on the side for a little something extra.

Case is a Antec 1200 with the added side fan, and 2 upgraded exhaust fans. CPU has a huge copper scythe sink on it as well. This case is just about as cold as you can possibly get with straight air-cooling.

Mobo is also covered in copper ram sinks. Ram has 3 fans on as well. Lots of fans in this case.

mine did the same thing. though not as high tech as yours, i have to check continuously for updates on my NVIDIA video card. i can tell when a new update comes out because the whole thing freezes and craps out. i really need a new one but can't afford it. so i keep an eye on the website.

The thing is that I have a freaking GTX 285. If thats the problem thats a huge piss off. Its not exactly a cheap card!

Does anyone know of any diagnostic tools I would be able to run on it to see if that is indeed causing my issues?

Please tell me you've undone the OC........

OCs cause that problem exactly. That's a verbatim OCing instability issue. Take the CPU back to stock before you do anything.
