torrent sites
i'm new to torrents, having found a treasure trove of chicago bears games, and was wondering if people had favorite torrent sites that they downloaded from.

Definitely, though they're almost all private.
Music and some applications: What.CD HD TV or Movies: HDBits.org Non-HD TV: BitMeTV.org Non-mainstream movies: Cinematik.net Documentaries: MVGroup.org British TV: TheBox.bz Asian Movies: AsianDVDClub.org (I don't use this one often) Anything else: Demonoid.com There are others that I might go to if I can't find something, but these are all my first stops.

On demonoid, be sure to select 'demoniod trackers only' or you may be downloading from public trackers...my friend has had several C&D letters from stuff he thought he was getting on demonid but was really TPB or some other public tracker.
If you search, there's a thead I started beyond google's prying eyes to help people get invitations.

Really? C&Ds? I've been downloading from the public-est of the public (piratebay.org, mininova.org, back in the day, suprnova.org) pretty much forever without incident. If there's media you're after, you'll find it there.
Also, cheggit.net, now that TFP is porn-free. Most definitely NSFW. |

I prefer the private trackers not only for the hiddenness, but that I don't have to seed out the whole net when I'm done dowmloading. add that I'm more comfortable with privates because there are standards and the releases of what you're seeking are better and there's no reason to go to a public tracker..

I like private trackers because they enforce ratios. I download from demonoid at about 80-100KB/s on 'popular' torrents, but usually more like 30-40. I download from my better private trackers consistently at between 900KB/s and 1.3M/s--grabbing a 7gb bluray rip of something takes me less time to download than to watch, and if my connection were faster (which they will be once Qwest gets fiber in my neighborhood...come to papa, 40mbps down, 20mpbs up!), the downloads would be, too.
Granted, some stuff I don't have good private sites for yet (trashy reality shows), but once I do, I won't use demonoid for anything. ---------- Post added at 11:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:11 PM ---------- Quote:

I got a C&D from RR and Lucasfilm a LOOONG time ago when Episode 1 hit, I was running a fileserver in a Dal.net chat room.
Needless to say things have calmed down for me quite a bit since then. If you are serious about using a public tracker don't forget about Peer Guardian2 Phoenix Labs PeerGuardian 2 Obviously the best defense is not to use them at all, but if you must any little bit of protection helps.

I know this takes all the fun out of downloading with torrents, but:
LegalTorrents - Film, Music and Digital Media LegalTorrents is an online digital media community. We discover and distribute high quality open-licensed (Creative Commons) digital media and art, and provide support to Content Creators. We host creative content in its entirety, ensure fast, reliable downloads, and enable users to directly sponsor Content Creators and their work. We distribute content with the full permission of the rights holders and use the peer-2-peer file-sharing technology called Bittorrent.
