free mp3 editor
does anyone know of any and/or have a favorite?
|
Audacity is a very solid choice in the free/opensource category
My personal choice is the commercial option Soundforge which is definitely not free but worth the price if you need it - has some features not available in Audacity. |

i'll agree that sound forge is well worth every penny, but audacity is everything a normal user would ever want with editing if you are planning on exporting mp3's with audacity, besure to find the 'lame codec', it's not included, i think it works you though how to install it once you try and save as mp3 for the first time. |
all the codecs should be on the audacity download site.
it takes a second to get used to the program, steep learning curve initially, but it gets much easier to use very quickly. |
Just another voice for Audacity -- it really is an amazing program, free, and does a lot of stuff. It's pretty straightforward I found -- just need to remember that when you save something, you're saving it in an Audacity-specific file format. To get an mp3 or something else, you'll need to use the export function.
