Regcleaner won't work on my new system. Any ideas? - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

Since building my new pc, regcleaner will not boot up properly after I install it. It just gives me the hourglass and then nothing happens when I double click on the icon.

My system is;

Windows xp
asus p4p800
P4 2.4c
512ram

I've installed xp twice now on this new system. The first time I experienced this problem on a couple of programs, but I had installed tons of other programs and games first. On the second reformatt and install, I tried installing regcleaner right after service pack 1 so that there were no other conflicts. Now I get the same problem. This program worked fine on my slower p3 850 system.

Any ideas how to fix this? Is there another similar program I can try?

Not familiar with what Regcleaner is. What OS was it originally for? Some Win9x programs don't work with XP properly because they're too old.

Also, what's the purpose of the program?
