I'm trying to finish my site, my "art guy" is M.I.A. and he hasn't done anything for me in like 5 years as he's gone professional (using the stuff he made for me in his portfolio to this day!) :)

What I need: someone with mad photoshop type skills, original content generation, I provide words, you provide pictures

What's in it for you: a couple of options here. If you have a website and you do this professionally, i'll link it and credit your work, or, I can donate to TFP, or to you if it's reasonable (i'm a broke and semi self starving artist (of the audio kind) so be gentle, or, a warm fuzzy feeling.

This is called 'spec' work and its really quite impossible to get people to do it. Nowadays, you gotta pay for it.

Yeah, the thing is, I have this fundamental hangup about paying directly for this service. A tattoo artist? his work is permanent. It'll be there for years, and even after you die. My website? this is my 3rd one, and while I want it to look nice, it's not making me any money (it might SOME DAY but I cannot predict this due to the nature of people and music preference) It'll be lucky to still be there after another 2 years.

I'm not sure what artists charge for web graphics, I'll pay them but I just dont do the whole "yeah that'll be 1000$ for us to do this and this for your site"

I know if I wanted like top level crazy pro-style stuff i'd hit up something like 2advanced.

I know I sound like I'm bashing web graphic artists, and that's horrible considering i'm here soliciting the generosity of their services, but I was just hoping that there was someone out there like my previous art guy, has skills and needs to prove them, and will use that proof to go professional.

What exactly do you need? Is it a problem to post it here?
What kind of art, what kind of work? I'm not saying I'll do it or even know how, but if I could, why not? I'm sure I wouldn't mind adding something to my portfolio, and neither would a lot of beginning artists.
I don't see a problem with what you're asking Shauk, but I'd like you to be a bit more specific about what you need in terms of graphics.

eh, just basically some gif type art that would fit on a black background and look like it's related to DJ'ing (Cables, Technology, Waveforms, Static, Dancers, Lighting, Music, Hardware, i dunno)
