work connection http://www.speedtest.net/result/242814446.png home connection I think work wins. |
Not even going to try my home connection ... it's really just pathetic.
This is my desktop at work 10/100 connection (Windows XP): http://www.speedtest.net/result/243038043.png This is from a machine with a Gigabit connection running Windows Server 2003: http://www.speedtest.net/result/243041347.png Notice the upload speed. We have a 45Mbs connection. I'll have to set up a machine outside the firewall sometime and try it. Interestingly, I got much better results from using a machine further away than the "recommended" server. |

Work. I'll do home later. Work has DSL. http://www.speedtest.net/result/243093137.png Home is a bit faster. Comcast cable. |

damn, that upload speed is something :) |

That's what you get in a 3rd world country with a telecommunications monopoly. :| |
My home connection destroys my work connection. Here's work. Will post home when I get there.

k someone on another board i frequent just came along and straight up violated me...
http://www.speedtest.net/result/243080372.png check out that ISP ;p |
|
Here is mine, pretty bad compared to you guys. Does me being in Canada have anything to do with that?
http://www.speedtest.net/result/243190109.png Here are my results from Bermuda... what the hell? http://www.speedtest.net/result/243192037.png |
The numbers on mine went up when I used the faster machine at home.

My house connection, believe it or not, I pay $61.00 a month for this speed. |

That is true willravel. I would take a kick ass suit with pulse weapons in my palm than a fast internet connection.

When I first got dsl, I got the 768 kbps package. I like that the speed has doubled and they haven't raised the price. :D |

Work speed... |
|
|
Home connection:
http://www.speedtest.net/result/243334944.png I think I pay $35 a month for this or something. I'm really going to miss it when I move.. no high-speed (other than Sprint wireless or phone as modem, $60 a month! Blech!) where I'll be going. |
|
School connection:

Home, Comcast Cable, 5 computers share this connection. The one tested is mine.

What the frack is electric lightwave? O_o Work connection.

Not too bad, though the connection speed fluctuates quite a bit, and I get quite different results from different servers. |
Finally got around to doing my home connection:
http://www.speedtest.net/result/243863157.png This was my work one, again.. http://img238.imageshack.us/img238/9595/redactedvj1.png And yet, somehow, inexplicably.. my home connection "feels" faster. It's an interesting thing to note that my ping is 1/3 of my work connection, even if the connection itself only supports half the bandwidth. |

Which, considering it's wireless and it's provided for FREE here in the barracks... that ain't too bad of a connection.:) |
Forgot to post my home speed. I'm using Comcast.
http://www.speedtest.net/result/244219218.png Some of your pings are horrible. o_O |
Home and work:
http://www.speedtest.net/result/244347313.png shitty upload speeds makes little spindles cry :( |
Home connection, running XP SP2, wired through a linksys router...
Through Firefox: http://www.speedtest.net/result/244369473.png Through IE 6: http://www.speedtest.net/result/244370007.png |
|
I live in southern NJ and get better speeds to Chi than NY or MD... go figure.
http://www.speedtest.net/result/245153138.png Anyone using FIOS? |
interestingly enough I get faster speeds testing servers that aren't in seattle
http://www.speedtest.net/result/245178607.png |
http://www.speedtest.net/result/245198716.png
meh closest test was el paso which is 280 miles or so away, i dont know if that makes a difference or not |
I recently changed providers and because I'm on a dry loop and they couldn't test my line, they decided that I'd have to start with the low (1mbps) tier service and upgrade once I was connected. Tomorrow I get my 7mbps connection. For now, I get this:
http://www.speedtest.net/result/245202767.png I can't wait. EDIT - For anyone who's keeping track, that's running Firefox in Ubuntu, on ADSL over an ethernet cable. EDIT #2 - Broadband ftw! Given that my connection is theoretically 7mbps down/ 768kbps up, this would appear to be the physical limit my line is capable of supporting: http://www.speedtest.net/result/246140535.png |

My work connect was around 800/600, so I rdp'd home and am still impressed with that bandwidth :) |
