I have friends who swear by the gamepad. I, personally, never liked the fact that the mouse cord wasn't centred.

I'd be afraid to stick my hand in the gamepad.. it looks like it would bite. I bet its awesome once you get used to it. Although it'd be hard to use for a MMORPG :)
