Botched installer
A coworker of mine built a program and we're seeing the following problem:
Once the program is installed, if you try to run one of the executables associated with the program from the start menu, the program will try to run the installer again. If you run the same executable from the explorer (i.e., c:\program files\MyApplication) it runs fine. We think the issue is a missing resource in the form of the systray icon, and the application wants to run the installer again to try and correct it, but we really don't know what's happening. Can anyone offer assistance or suggestions on this issue?

Or his LNK to the actual program that runs the program is to the wrong EXE, commands being sent to the EXE, or... something else. Try making your own link of the program that actually works, send the LNK to the desktop and see if this behavior persists.
