Updating Drivers for XP

I just picked up a new laptop and needless to say, I'm not impressed with Vista! I've been reading about partitioning the HD and installing XP, but I'm having trouble finding the drivers. I've got a subscription to PC Pitstop's driver finder service, which scans the computer's hardware and says what needs updating with links right to the driver download page.
If I install XP, will this be able to help me find the XP drivers?

it probably wont help you find the one that you need. it will maybe get you the generic drivers..but not the ones you need.

i suggest get model numbers and find them online and put them on thumbdrive and then install xp, and then put in the drivers thru the thumb drive.

A business I provide services for purchased four new top-end Acer laptops, with Vista Business installed on them.

The boss handed all four of them over to me on the Thursday afternoon and said, "Blow the Vista OS away and have them rebuilt running XP Pro SP2. Can you get it done over the weekend?"

Took a bit of effort, but did it and do they fly now !!

I'm just waiting for SP3 to come out.

Cheers,
Cameron

It shouldn't be too hard to find XP drivers for the new devices - I've successfully switched over a few Sony Vaio's from Vista to XP.

If you do get stuck, look on the website of the manufacturer of the device you need the driver for. 9 times out of 10 a search for "Vaio XP Drivers" will yield no results, but if you look for the specific device you usually get lucky.

Good hunting.

Also, try contacting the manufacturer directly - I even got Sony to send me a disc with the XP drivers.

Yeah, unfortunately from what I've been reading on forums on the net, Toshiba has gone over so far to embracing Vista, people are starting to think that they are on Microsoft's payroll. They will not assist anyone in replacing vista with XP.
