Is there any program for WinXP that will let me do a batch rename of file extensions?

what about the command prompt (start, run, type "cmd"):

cmd:\>rename *.jpeg *.jpg

makes all .jpeg files in that folder .jpg (e.g. "test.jpeg" -> "test.jpg")

also works with copy

also, you can open notepad, write:
rename *.jpeg *.zip (for example)
save it as rename.bat, move it to the folder where the files are and double click it.
You have just writed your very own batch rename program

if the above suggestions don't work, try this free app called UltraRenamer: http://bimbo.fjfi.cvut.cz/~brousil/software.php.

it's worked great for me.
