SystemWorks 2003 Trick
 

Here we go...

I had a problem with my subscription service...I installed systemworks 2003 Pro on my new computer, but I had forgotten to check the date on my computer's clock.

When I corrected the date, to over a year later, suddenly I got a warning saying that my supscription had expired, and that I needed to pay for the update.

That's when it hit me: It's based off the date on YOUR computer, not theirs. To test the theory, I set my date back to 2001, and lo and behold, free updates.

So, does anyone know how I can edit/delete a registry key to get rid of the date stored on my machine? It's a neat trick and all, but it makes me click away the subscription status notices all the time when I set the date correctly. I could reformat/reinstall...but there has to be a better way.

Oh well.

I'm off to poke at it a little more.

Yeah, I "solved" it...sorta like solving an argument by beating the other guy with a bat, though...not exactly delicate.

Uninstalled, scoured the registry for anything Symantec, deleted that stuff, and moved on.

Oh, I had to install LiveUpdate manually, then, but whatever. I'm cool with that.
