Ram not registering.
So I upgraded a computer from 1gig to 4gig of ram. But when I go into system it says I only have 3.25gb of ram. Now shouldnt it say something more like 4.1gb of ram?
The first though that came to my mind was shared video memory. Well I also upgraded the video so it shouldnt be using shared video ram anymore. So what else uses shared video ram and any reason why it does not say the right amount of ram?

you are running a 32 bit OS, it can only map 32 bits worth of addresses, 4 gigs, physical components take up this space as well, every device takes up some, the ram on the video card needs to be mapped as well, so 3.25 sounds about right.
